A ComRes poll for ITV News/The Independent puts Conservatives 8 points clear but short of overall majority

 

The ComRes poll shows the Conservatives on 37%, Labour on 29%, Liberal Democrats on 26%, and 8% for others.

 

This poll gives the Conservatives 294 seats - 32 short of an overall majority – Labour 251 seats and Liberal Democrats 74.

 

This compares with figures from ComRes yesterday that put Conservatives on 38%, Labour on 28%, Liberal Democrats on 25%, and 9% for others.

 

The poll also included a battery of statements about the three party leaders, illuminating voter attitudes towards them as we enter the final 72 hours of campaigning:

ComRes telephoned 1,024 GB adults between 1st and 2nd May 2010. Data were weighted to be demographically representative of all GB adults. Data were also weighted by past vote recall. ComRes is a member of the British Polling Council and abides by its rules.
