- The survey finds widespread lack of knowledge about Christian beliefs among the UK population. A sizeable minority answered that they don’t know if there Is one true God in three persons (31%)
- More than half of UK adults disagree that salvation comes only through Jesus Christ (53%), almost two thirds disagree with the authority of the Bible (64%) and three quarters disagree that even the smallest sin deserves eternal damnation (76%)
- Nine in ten evangelical Christians agree that people are justified by faith alone in Jesus Christ alone (90%)
- However, three quarters (74%) agree that Jesus is the first and greatest being created by God – contrary to the historic Christian faith
- Nearly three in ten evangelical Christians agree that “the Bible, like all sacred writings, contains helpful accounts of ancient myths but is not literally true” (28%)
