- On average, UK adults report doing roughly 1.5 hours of physical activity a week. In comparison they say they spend approximately 1.7 hours a day watching TV on demand, and the same goes for social media. This 1.7 figure works out at around 12 hours per week and suggests they may be watching eight times as much TV on demand and social media, as exercise in the average week
- Adults in the UK also say they spend around 0.7 hours a day waiting for, or delayed on, public transport; approximately 5 hours per week and 3 times more than physical activity being done
- For those that exercise when feeling stressed or concerned, the most common reason is because it clears their head (71%), as well as for finding it relaxing (55%) and enjoying being outdoors (50%). The latter is particularly common among those who say they go for a walk when they are stressed or concerned; three in five say this (58%)
